Saturdays, 2.30-5pm UK local time
Online via Zoom – Cost per masterclass: £40
These masterclasses are delivered lecture-style, to maximise focused, detailed and high-quality teaching. Each masterclass will give a distilled and comprehensive picture of the subject, so that you can then apply the ideas to your own chart and/or use them in your own astrological work. There will however be time set aside for interactive Q&A, so that you can ask questions and develop your understanding of the material.
They are suitable for different stages of study. The focus will be on deepening into the symbolism, to extend and flex your understanding, and encourage confidence in chart work.
Can’t attend live? No problem! Each masterclass will be recorded and you will have access to the recording for 30 days. A PDF of the slides will also be sent to you after the event, for you to keep alongside any charts or other handouts.
What Belongs to Us: Life's Work - Matters of Vocation and Purpose
"No yearning for an afterlife, no looking beyond, no belittling of death, but only longing for what belongs to us and serving earth, lest we remain unused." ~ Rainer Maria Rilke
A strong calling or vocation is a kind of identity – in the sense that it roots you firmly in your life. It may be closely entwined with career or income, but also emanates from other contexts. In many ways the Sun is a focal indicator, the conductor that plays the orchestra of your aliveness.
This class will explore the various ways we can look to the chart for inspiration and confirmation of how we might engage with the uniqueness of ‘what belongs to us’. What does astrology offer in terms of our life’s work?
Jupiter-Uranus: A Vision for the Future
Kim Farley & Carole Taylor
This masterclass is a free event!
The late great Charles Harvey called Jupiter-Uranus the ‘thank the Lord’ combination, in reference to its themes of blessed release and freedom from constraint. April 2024 sees a conjunction of Jupiter and Uranus in Taurus, the beginning of a new 14-year cycle of innovation, discovery and enterprise.
This masterclass addresses the potentials of this conjunction, in both the collective and in our individual lives. We will explore the themes of Jupiter-Uranus as a combination, before looking at the Jupiter-Uranus cycle in both personal and mundane contexts, using chart examples to illustrate. Bring your own chart along too, as we’ll also be looking at this conjunction through each of the 12 houses, with ideas for interpreting the significance of the upcoming conjunction in your own life.
The Astrology of Money
"Money is congealed energy, and releasing it releases life's possibilities." ~ Joseph Campbell
We all have a relationship to money, and the terminology around it is both colourful and revealing. ‘Currency’ describes its circulation as a current of energy; ‘credit’ reveals our hopes in respect of future monetary status. The 2nd is a house where we ‘account’ for ourselves monetarily and survive through our own resourcefulness; the 8th is a house of trusts and mortgages (‘death contracts’) where the complexities of joint finances or debt act as a mirror for our experiences of emotional trust, loss and betrayal. Money ‘makes the world go around’, but a love of it is said to be the ‘root of all evil’. This class explores the symbolism of money, and how our psychology shapes our relationship to it.
The Art of Loving
"Love is the bridge between you and everything." ~ Rumi
If we view the whole area of relating in terms of a fluid, ongoing process whose source is our capacity to be present to ourselves and others, then we can appreciate that love is an action, not simply a feeling. We can approach things by examining what kind of partner we could become, rather than passively waiting for some perfect other to materialise.
What does the chart offer in terms of the richly varied world of human relating? This class will outline and explore a range of ideas connected to love and loving in our lives.
The Water Houses and the Soul of the Family
"In every conceivable manner, the family is link to our past, bridge to our future." ~ Alex Haley
The 4th, 8th and 12th houses are said to have an affinity with the water signs. Water can be taken as a symbol of the unconscious, an element outside of time where we encounter soul and the deep mysteries of psychic life. These houses also connect us to our family, the 4th as the alembic of home and the lineage of our family tree, the 8th as hidden elements below the surface of family life, and the 12th as unresolved disturbances inherited from the past. The water houses say a great deal about these emotional and psychological legacies as elements of the soul of the family, the arc of something working itself out through successive generations.
We will explore the idea of the family soul through the lens of the water houses, thinking about how the ancestors create the context of our own lives and how our life contributes to the ongoing story of the family to which we belong.
